Emu
Habitat:   Mainland Australia
Size:   6 feet 7 inches
Weight:   60-75 lbs
Food:   Omnivorous

Description:
The Emu, Dromaius novaehollandiae, is the largest bird native to Australia and the only extant member of the genus Dromaius. It is also the second-largest bird in the world by height, the tallest is its relative, the ostrich. The soft-feathered, brown, flightless birds reach up to 6 ft 7 in in height. Emus can travel great distances at a fast, economical trot and, if necessary, can sprint at 31 mph for some distance at a time. They are opportunistically nomadic and may travel long distances to find food; they feed on a variety of plants and insects.
Emu oil is an oil made from the Emu. Emu oil is approximately 70% unsaturated fatty acids. The largest component is oleic acid – a mono-unsaturated fatty acid. Emu oil also contains about 20% linoleic (Omega 6) acid and 1-2% linolenic (Omega 3) acid. There is some evidence to suggest that the oil may have medicinal benefit.
Emu oil is a complete neutral lipid, since emu oil lacks phospholipids.
