Brazilian Rainbow Boa 
Habitat:   Rivers and forests of South and Central America
Size:   5-7 feet
Food:   small rodents and birds

Description:   
The Brazilian Rainbow Boa is perhaps one of the most beautiful snakes in the world with its iridescent coloring with the rainbow spectrum. In comparison with other boas, the Rainbow boa is a medium size snake that catches its prey and constricts it before eating. All boas have special pits on their faces that help them detect heat, which is very important considering they are nocturnal and locate their warm-blooded prey with these pits. Although excellent swimmers, Rainbow boas prefer to stay out of the water. Because of their beautiful skin, Rainbow Boas are one of the most sought after snakes in the pet trade which, combined with habitat destruction, has decreased their numbers somewhat in the wild. Our boas are all captive raised.
