Mandrill-Coming June 2010 
Habitat:   Tropical Rainforests of Gabon, Cameroon and Congo
Size:   36-48 inches
Weight:   Males 80-100lbs;Females 40-50lbs
Food:   Omnivors - plants insects and small mammals

Description:   
Mandrills are recognized by their olive-colored fur and the blue and red nose of males, a coloration that grows stronger with sexual maturity; females have duller colors. The red color on the rump is thought to enhance visibility in the thick vegetation of the rainforest and aids in group movement.
They can survive up to 31 years in captivity.
Mandrills are social animals and live in groups which include females and young and led by a single dominant male. Babies are born after a 7 month gestation usually between January and April but can occur any month. Babies are born with their eyyes open and with black fur and pink skin. Adult males are solitary.
